Keira Knightley showed a lot of front at the European premiere of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. The 21-year-old actress wore a gold Gucci dress slashed to the waist which revealed her slender frame. The revealing outfit caused some onlookers to wonder if the British starlet had bowed to Hollywood pressure to be super-skinny. But Knightley said: "Whatever people say about my weight they are all wrong. "Hollywood is all about the way you look and I don't think that's the healthy thing for anyone. "But if you're strong and comfortable with yourself then you're going to be fine." The European premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was held in London's Leicester Square. Knightley was joined on the red carpet by co-stars Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. Other stars at the premiere included singer Charlotte Church and actress Mischa Barton in a blue babydoll dress. Kimberley Stewart, tennis star Greg Rusedski and Bob Geldof's daughters Peaches and Fifi were also there.

Actors Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have attended the European premiere of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel in London. Dead Man's Chest, which opens in the UK later this week, reunites the stars of the hit 2003 original, inspired by the popular Disneyland theme park ride. The sequel has received mixed reviews, with the Hollywood Reporter hailing "a heady boys' adventure run amok". Variety, though, has described it as "misguided" and "wearisome". "No expense has been spared in order to make the effects even more spectacular this time around," writes its critic Todd McCarthy. However, he adds, "there is a sense of bloat and where-do-we-go-from here aimlessness to this unconscionably protracted undertaking". 'Invention and energy' The BBC Movies website was similarly unimpressed, with critic Paul Arendt calling the film "complicated" and "overloaded". The Guardian's Steve Rose, however, sounded a more positive note. "The good news is that this follow-up does recapture some of the high-seas high spirits of the first movie," he wrote. "Despite all the fits, starts, and flaws, there's enough invention and energy here to make you want to see the next instalment." A third Pirates film, shot at the same time as Dead Man's Chest, will be released next year.

Fans who braved the heat in London for the Pirates of the Caribbean 2 European premiere weren't disappointed. The three big stars of the film - Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley - spent more than an hour chatting to thousands of fans. Security staff had to spray water over the crowd to help them cool off. Keira said: "It's quite crazy out there. It's really hot and I feel so sorry for all those people who have been standing out there all day." But Keira was sure they were there to see someone else, adding: "I know they're here for Johnny." Johnny - who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the film - didn't need water to keep cool, preferring a funky hat and sunglasses. Keira also talked about doing her own stunts: "I was desperate to have swordfights all the way through and they actually gave me one in the second film, but I don't think I was very good. I didn't get as many as I thought I would. "I really do love action and I think if you are doing an action film, you should do as much of the action yourself as possible." Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is comes out in UK cinemas on 6 July.
