Bloom Goes Green With New Audi

When someone tells you that they're buying a greener car, it's unlikely that an Audi springs to mind. So why is film star and environmental campaigner, Orlando Bloom, stepping out of an Audi A3 diesel at London's Stansted Airport?

Priced at £16,995, the 1.9 TDIe emits just 119g/km carbon dioxide making it Audi's greenest car. It will cost just £35 per year in road tax, and thanks to a very restrained taste for fuel – it should cover 62.8 miles per gallon on average – won't cost a small fortune to fuel.

What's next for our swashbuckling hero, Orlando? Will he be swapping the fuel-guzzling jet he usually uses for his trips across the Atlantic for a greener option? A pirate ship, perhaps?

Thanks for this interesting article Libra.

£35 for Road Tax! :o If only I could afford a car like this one. We've just paid £170 for our road tax, even though we use Unleaded Fuel. As much as we would love to go green with our car it has a price tag thats out of our reach! *Sigh*

Thanks for sharing. I always like to hear of new ways to be greener.

This Audi sounds like a great way to go green. I wonder if this car is available in the US?

Lissa, you would have to find a dealer that specializes in Foreign imports. Audi are German cars. Maybe try doing a google search for your area.

Here are a couple more websites with details of the car:

Unfortunately Orlando’s model is not available in the US.

Katt,
If you wanted to know more about going green, I’d be happy to provide information that can help in your office, home and just about anywhere. There are many ways we can help the environment, and all make a difference. I can either post privately, or if Jesse wishes, can put it on the forum somewhere, but it will be her decision as to where.

Thanks libra! How about in the Daily Chit-chat area?

Sorry Libra, I completely missed this!

As Katt suggested, the Daily Chit-Chat area is perfect.

Thanks for doing that. :friends:

There's another article on Orlando's Audi at Kent News.

The Lord of the Rings actor, Canterbury-born Orlando Bloom, who is a fervent environmental campaigner, was spotted stepping out of his compact Audi A3 diesel, the most environmentally friendly Audi model, at Stansted Airport, having told friends he was downsizing his transport in order to cut his carbon emissions.

Bloom, whose schedule requires him to fly between the USA and the UK on a regular basis, has finally found a car which will allow him to travel in and out of London with minimum impact to the environment - his Audi A3 TDIe is the version with a very low CO2 emission of just 119 grammes per kilometre and able to travel up to 890 miles on a single fill up.

Bloom’s eco-friendly Hollywood buddies are bound to be impressed with his car choice; Audi is currently spearheading the introduction of diesel technology in the USA, where it is only just catching on.

Audi has worked hard to ensure that even its largest model – the imposing seven-seat Q7 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) - meets the stringent West Coast tailpipe emissions standards set by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in LA – the toughest environment rules of all of the 50 states.
