Title: Robin Hood

Orlando's name is being tossed around with those of Sean Bean, Christian Bale, Gerard Butler and Daniel Craig to play Robin Hood in Sir Ridley Scott's latest project 'Nottingham'. With Sienna Miller as Maid Marion and Russel Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham it certainly sounds like an interesting line-up.

I could definitely see Orlando in the role of a deeper, much darker Robin Hood, taking it places where films and TV series haven't visited. When you think of Sir Ridley's work on Gladiator and KOH you know he will do an excellent job of the darker tale.
As for Orlando with a bow, arrow and sword again, well, 'time will tell'.

Thanks for posting this, Jesse!

Seems like Orlando would have a bit of an inside edge on getting the part as he's worked with Sir Ridley twice before. Still, would Orlando want to "swash the buckle" again, as it were? Perhaps if, as you note, he played the darker Robin (and not the "pretty boy rebel rouser" he's pegged for in the article), the roll would be something he could sink his teeth into.

Myself, I vote for Orlando in tights, any day! ;)

As you said, time will tell!

Found a further snippet on Robin Hood here at ain't it cool news

Seems Christian Bale is out as "dark" Robin and the film is meant to begin filming in August.

If this is the case (and Orlando really is in the running), I wonder what that would do to the shooting schedule for The Red Circle?

TWT! ;)

Thanks for the link OrlandoLad. :thumb:

Well they seem pretty confidant that Bale is out, now Paul Bettany, that is a VERY interesting idea.

I've been giving this a lot more thought since yesterday and I have two thoughts:

#1 - Orlando and a swash buckling, Errol Flynn type, Legolas styled Robin Hood - NO!

#2 - Orlando as a dark, rugged anti-hero as mentioned in the first link, to quote...

Robin the Beheader, who would chop off your head and your hands and take all your money and not give any of it to anybody.

...then YES!

However, like you say, if Orlando were to do it there would be a filming clash and I think given the choice Orlando would go for The Red Circle.

TWT!

That would be a very juicy role to dig into!
