Title: 2009 Calendars
Description: 12 months of staring puppy-dog eyes...
OrlandoLad - May 18, 2008 10:55 PM (GMT)
Was mucking about amazon.com and happened upon artwork for next year's (unofficial) calendar offerings. Mostly the same images we've all seen before, but who's complaining? ;) (Love that woolly jumper!)
Past years have also featured a third calendar of Orlando in his film roles. Perhaps that version is still pending...

I agree - who's complaining.
The one of him on the red chaise reminds me of when he did KOH
OrlandoLad - May 19, 2008 12:06 PM (GMT)
You're right, libra. That does appear to be Orlando in his "Balian bob".
Jesse - May 19, 2008 12:42 PM (GMT)
:woot: Thanks OrlandoLad.
I am LOVING the 2009 Street Hassle calendar! I have this years SH calendar up in my office at the moment, just gorgeous pictures.
Yes, the red chaise is a publicity photo for KOH taken by Sebastian Copeland. The picture of him infront of the window (bottom row, 2nd picture) and top row 2nd picture, are also part of that set.
I love the cover shot, such a shame they didn't use more of those.
Actually, as I look at those pictures I can name where they are all taken or by whom! Gawd! I'm such a geek!
Pressie Time: Have a bottom row, Pic 4 - DMC Disneyland Premiere...

Not that he looks old, but the picture of him at DMC makes him look so young, different than what he looks like now.
I wonder if they do a Pirates 4, if he would have to revert back to the longer hair and extensions, and if he'd look the same.

Ooooooh, pressies!
Thank you,
Jesse!
Actually, my favorite is a few frames up (I assume it's a Sebastian shoot, but I guess you'd be able to confirm that,
Jesse --being the expert geek and all :friends:).
Here's a rendering of that very shot done in charcoal (an eBay purchase from an anonymous --very talented-- artist).
Sigh, such big, lovely paws...

I'd love to see the long hair back, its a favourite with me. And Will Turner definitely has to have long hair!
OrlandoLad, I love that charcoal drawing, just stunning. The accuracy and detail is amazing. Yes, its Sebastian Copeland again. This is the original...

OrlandoLad,
Thanks for sharing the picture with us. It is a beautiful portrait of him, and there is so much soul in his eyes. it reminds me of the comment of there is darkness in him - well I think we all have that now and then, but behind the smile, there is pain in the eyes now and then. It is why this past few weeks when he was shown with Miranda, it was the first time, in a long time, he looked so deliciously happy. The wonders of what a good woman will do for a man.

Thanks for the compliments, Jesse and libra. It is a lovely piece and I was fortunate to win it.
And yes, the artist did an amazing job on Orlando's peepers! The lad looks almost alive...

Orlandolad,
I had to take another look at the sketch and the actual picture. It is really amazing, but the artwork seems better to me than the actual picture.
The eyes are so soulful, and his hands are so graceful. Even the little wisps of hair around his ears (I've always thought he had beautiful ears - not too large), but just right for him.
The expression on his face makes him look pensive -deep in thought or about to cry. Either way, it is truly a great piece of artwork. Orlando and the artwork I mean!

I totally agree Libra. There is an intensity to that drawing that just accentuates a part of Orlando's personality that remains hidden from most eyes.
The drawing says to me that he's worried something is going to be discovered and although you can see it in the actual picture, the colour softens that silent message.

This picture is certainly drawing attention isn't it?
Pensive is what comes to me. Just very deep in thought and the photographer looking for a certain shot may just have told him, look back to some place in your path that was a bad experience for you. Of course we would naturally think he would think of the back accident, but I wonder if he would think of when he was in love for the first time and got hurt, or a sad experience connected with his family, or a role that he had his heart set on and didn't get or just a hurtful comment someone made to him that he is sensitive about.
Behind the laughing smiling boy we see, there is a deep level of sensitivity to him.
OrlandoLad - May 21, 2008 11:55 PM (GMT)
Wow, you guys are deep! :friends:
I just think he looks dreamy...

Found more calendars!
Looks like the UK will luck out with three different Orlando-centric calendars this year. The two already posted and now this one:

(Quick
Jesse, name and date of the cover shoot! :P I like how they crop him at the nose in the bottom inset picture. Reminds me of that cute bit he did during
IN CELEBRATION where they were talking about there not being enough chairs for all the children to eat at the table. But I digress... ;))
Plus, seems we're getting another POTC calendar in three different sizes (plus I'm hoping for a mega-sized one from the BORDER'S bookstore chain like last year):

Here are the ordering links if anyone wants more details:

Nice calendars OrlandoLad, but I still like the Street Hassle calendar the best.

That was a great scene in the play and really funny. I also remember the line about the teacher coming from school and the springs pinging out of the sofa when he sat down.
