Some trivia on Doncaster Day. If you are a horse lover (as I am), I thought you might enjoy some of the Trivia on the prestigous Emirates Doncaster Day.

Racing

The $1.8 million Emirates Doncaster mile dates back to 1866 and has been won by many renowned horses including Gunsynd, Tobin Bronze and Chatham, with jockey Glen Boss riding to victory the past two years on Racing to Win and most recently Haradasun.

The $1.8 million dollar David Jones Australian Derby is known as one of the top ranked event for 3-year-olds by Australian and New Zealand race classifications, and is a race not to be missed. Last year we saw the John Hawkes trained New Zealand horse Fiumicino take out honours in the Derby, ably ridden by top jockey Darren Beadman.

Other races to note in the prominent nine race schedule include the Group 1 $500,000 Sydney City Lexus T.J Smith Stakes and the Group 1 AJC $450,000 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes, the second leg of the Two Year Old Grand Slam which promises to deliver a very exciting finish.

There are some very exciting and prestigous racing taking place. The Kentucky Derby which is done the first Saturday of every May. The Epsom Downs in the UK, and of course this race in Australia. Their beloved Phar Lap was from Australia and raced on Doncaster Race Day. It is the creme de la creme, and with Orlando and Miranda there, they just added to the beauty of the day.
