Title: New Movie?
libra - November 2, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
Orlando bloom has signed on to play a killer in an upcoming movie. Rumor has it he will play a serial killer who stalks his victims in a video store than follows them home to kill them. It will be out in 2009. this is actually based on true events although not a video store it was some other type of business. It happened in 1994.
I don't know how true this is, but I was Hoping he would do a comedy or romantic role.

Oh wow. At last a meaty role for Orlando. I hope it is true.

Ooooh, it does indeed sound interesting!
However, I'm going to jump into my previous role of source/quote/confirmation?
Nothing personal my dear! :D :friends:

I really hope he dose do a movie like this sounds really cool :P

I remember a discussion on an other fan-board, in which we all pretty much agreed that we would love to see Mr. Bloom as a villain.
It would be too great if that rumour was true. We all know him either as the nice boy from next door, the hero or "Steven"... :bigwink:
I think a murderer would be something surprising. I have to confess, I would be quite anxious about to see, how he handles a truly bad character on screen...
For an actor, as much as it is fun to be "the bad guy" I consider it to be quite a challenge aswell.
On screen, there are situations in which you simply look into the villan's eyes and it gives you the creeps... :headhurts:
So I'm crossing my fingers for this to be true... :P
Anyone likes to join ?!? :steven:

Totally agree with you,Jocy!. It would be great to watch him play a role of a "bad guy". Maybe a member of a mafia.
I have to say I really would love to see him as a drugaddict- I think that role would be very challenging and great for him.

Kyle, I saw this posted yesterday afternoon on imdb. Has anyone seen it posted anywhere else?

Kyle, no offense taken.
It was posted on two sites, one was IMDB, and I forget the other.
I recall some scenes from POTC3 where Orlando does look like he could be the bad guy. He has that intensity about him that he let through. I could see him being charming as a serial killer and just as he is about to kill his victim does it with charm and intensity. He has that one (OK a few great features), but I have seen him say a whole conversation with just the look in his eyes. I think this will be a good departure for him from the "teen idol" look. He isn't old at 30, but he needs to hand the crown to another pretty boy.
He is no longer pretty in my view, but just drop dead handsome, gorgeous, and provacative.
Even killing someone in cold blood, can make him just :hot:

I would love it if this information is true. I remember from another board that we had a similar conversation and I wanted for him to spread his wings and do something that he had not done yet. But as KarenatJDR said only time will tell. :smoke:

I think this would be a very different role for him to take on and this would be one I'd love to see him tackle! ;)

WOW that sounds great! I would love to see him in such a role I think.
Oh well I'm looking forward to what ever he does *G*
Thanks Libra

I seen the promo for Johnny Depp's new film on Sweeney Todd and couldn't help but think how good Orlando would be in a role along those lines. Someone doing evil, but you can't help but love and root for them.

I'd love to see him do a deceptive murderer role.

This is certainly an interesting piece of news and a most definitely the type of role that I would love to see Orlando have a shot at!
When I saw 'Haven' I instantly wanted to see more of Orlando in those gritty dramas. Something that shows yet another range to his remarkable acting talent.
I love him in comedy, I love him in costume/romantic/heroic movies but I want to see that demon that is inside him bust out through his eyes. As Libra said...he has the intensity and the depth. I've seen that demon inside of him...on stage as Steven. A demon that is capable of pushing him to the very limits to achieve the depth of character.
I certainly hope he does this, but until we hear more 'Time Will Tell.'
(I'm pinching your catch-phrase Karen! )

I probably shouldn't say anything because I can't tell you where I read it. I was setting at the nurses station the other night at work and it was almost 0400 sorry 4am and another one of the nurses had a magazine I had never seen before and she was reading it, now I'm here in Vegas and her son is in the "business" shall we say so I'm really not sure what sort of paper it was but there was just a little blurb in it about Orlando being considered for the new movie about the unibomber!! Has anyone else seen that or was I sleeping at work and just imagined it? If this is something I shouldn't have said because I can't remember the details please tell me and swear I'll never do it again.

dmk759 -
Are you still in Vegas? If so, send me a PM.
Jesse - welcome back! :D I agree. There is that grittiness about him, and we've seen a bit of it in Haven. He has so much to give and offer, and hopefully, he'll be getting roles to demonstrate all his acting skills.

I'm sure that Orlando, using those compelling eyes and the charm of his voice, would be more than capable of portraying an irresistable "bad guy". He has always chosen the unexpected in his roles, so why not show the other side of the devastatingly handsome and engaging Mr. Bloom? We know he is fun and a natural with comedy. The role of a serial killer would be a challenge I think he would relish.
No matter what he chooses to do, I am sure Orlando will deliver a marvellous performance.

Tinakel,
It would be nice if he can interject some dark humor into his role.

I had heard something about them preparing a movie about the unibomber, but haven't heard about casting yet. It was a tiny little snipet on 'showbiz tonight' a couple of weeks ago.
All these possible projects. This is going to be fun seeing what he chooses next. I would love to see him play someone unredeemable. I'll bet his dark side can be quite sinister.

Wicksay
Is it Theodore Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber, the unibomber you are talking about? He volunteered to do mind-control experiments by the CIA. Not a serial killer, but I can see Orlando playing a double agent, doing all kinds of nasty things.
I've never seen his temper, except a mild display of it on screen, but we have seen him highly annoyed so playing a maniac would be a perfect new role for him.
After that, another play (Rosie, get those baking pans out! :D
And then a romantic comedy!

Amen to that. We can only hope. I must say I like your projected timeline: a nasty, a maniac and then fronting a romantic comedy. Piece of cake! (pardon the pun RosieB). I do think those eyes of his could flash fire and menace, and would like to see him in a role that would showcase this.
Tinakel.

There were sparks of that in Haven, Elizabethtown (especially the part where Kirsten Dunst's character keeps saying "you failed, you failed" and he holds his hands up, and then of course in POTC3 - there is a bit of that when he confronts Elizaebth, when Sparrow throws him overboard and when he tells Jones - "I wasn't done with that.
