Ellen 13 September 2006 - promoting 'Haven'.

QUOTE
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN star ORLANDO BLOOM drummed up a storm as a guest of US TV talk show host ELLEN DeGENERES when he realised a percussion dream with PRINCE's famous rhythm girl SHEILA E. Bloom confessed he'd always wanted to learn to play the bongos after taking basic drumming lessons as a kid, and DeGeneres went out of her way to make his dream come true. The British actors revealed, "It's something you can bring around with you, you can take to the beach and sort of entertain people and I have a bit of a base in percussion." And, after handing the actor a handful of books about mastering the bongos, DeGeneres set up Bloom's first lesson with Sheila E. The drummer told Bloom to "play from your heart" after he confessed he couldn't read music. The actor then joined Sheila E and DeGeneres for a bongo jam, before the percussionist gave him her own personal drums as a gift to learn on. She joked, "I would love for you to play my bongos."

Nervous Orlando for this talk show!

Just a few notes about the conversation because it mostly covered stuff we've already heard.

Jerry Bruickheimer sent Orlando a bottle of very expensive champagne to have a toast when Dead Mans Chest hit the billion dollar mark.

He's doing construction on his house in London which he was quoted a 4 month period and is now into it's 7th month.

As far as Orlando is aware Pirates 3 is all there is..but who knows!

He talks about his accident where he broke his back, the Sea Urchin story is pulled out again and we get a run down on the list of broken bones...to date! "I was in and out of hospital so many times as a kid that I think they called her (his Mum) up and said "Do you love your son Mrs Bloom?"

He talks about Haven - the storyline and the producer...nothing we haven't heard before. And the same clip as was shown that was aired on 'Jimmy Kimmel'.

Thanks to Ka-Bloom for providing the video download.

Ellen has urged people to write a life list...things they'd like to accomplish in their life. One of Orlando's was to learn to play Bongos.

(As a note, I'm sure Orlando doesn't know what they have chosen...he's so nervous. Watch him drumming his fingers and fidgeting.)

Ellen gives him some music books for learning the bongo drums and then introduces Shiela E. They have a short little session and then Shiela present Orlando with his own set of Bongo's.
