| A plaque in honour of playwrite Oscar Wilde is to be unveiled in a Westcountry resort. Torbay Civic Society will erect the plaque at Babbacombe House on Monday - the anniversary of the writers birth on October 16, 1854. Wilde leased the house from his wife's cousin in 1892. He was living there when he wrote a letter to his gay lover Lord Alfred Douglas, which was used against him in the prosectution which led to his imprisonment. |
